Meaning and History

Rivian Logo history

Electric pickup manufacturer Rivian has been around since 2009, but at the end of 2021, Rivian managed to hold the largest IPO of the year and raise almost $12 billion from investors. Everyone called the company Tesla’s main competitor and “nightmare”. Rivian founder RJ Scaringe is a graduate engineer from MIT. On the way to the electric pickup truck that Rivian eventually went public with, Scaringe’s company was on the verge of bankruptcy more than once. However, in 2019, Jeff Bezos became a fan of Rivian and ordered 100,000 electric vehicles from Rivian to transport Amazon orders. This was the largest order for the supply of electric vehicles in history. The company changed its name several times – from Mainstream it turned into Averra, and then into Rivian. The latter comes from the name of the river that flows near the city of Rockledge in Florida.

Rivian Logo 2009

Rivian is a company that has a simple but memorable logo. It consists of symbols that resemble the letter “V”. The first two symbols are connected in such a way that they form a square, and inside this figure, there is exactly the same one, only smaller and rotated 90 degrees. This entire symbol is yellow. Below it (sometimes on the right side) is the name of the company. The font has no serifs or curves. There is a lot of white space between the letters of the name, and the letters “R” and “A” are not completely closed. All this symbolizes the transparency of the company, openness, and desire to develop.
